Rotating-anode X-ray tube development featured in People’s Daily

Research and development of high-power X-ray sources.

People’s Daily featured the high-power rotating-anode X-ray tube developed through a joint research effort involving Oriental Spectroscopy. The report recognizes the team’s work on independently developed scientific instruments.

01 A core component developed in China

The rotating-anode X-ray tube is a core component of X-ray absorption spectrometers, diffractometers and CT systems. Its performance affects measurement precision and operating efficiency.

Anhui University, the University of Science and Technology of China, and Oriental Spectroscopy formed a joint team covering design, manufacturing and instrument integration. The resulting 6–12 kW rotating-anode tube is compatible with the company’s dual-beam laboratory X-ray absorption spectrometer. The original announcement reports that its key performance indicators reached an advanced international level.

02 Connecting research with industrial production

Oriental Spectroscopy contributed precision machining, materials preparation and product development. The company also leads the X-ray absorption fine-structure spectrometer project.

Founder Professor Shoujie Liu participates in research at Anhui University and in the industrial development of the technology, helping translate laboratory results into instruments.

03 Growing adoption

At the time of the announcement, the company reported independent development of more than 90% of its core components and deliveries exceeding 70 instruments. It also reported a domestic laboratory XAFS market share above 50% in both 2024 and 2025.
